How document translation works
Use the PDF translator in your browser. No installation or signup is required for the free demo.
Choose the PDF's target language
Choose English, Spanish, Japanese, or another language in the picker. The source language is detected from the document.
Upload a readable PDF
Upload a PDF. A text-based export is a better starting point than a blurry scan or a photograph of a page.
Download and review the PDF
Download the translated PDF, then check page breaks, tables, names, and numbers against your original before sharing it.
About document translation and JotMe
JotMe combines purpose-built translation and transcription tools with a broader system for multilingual teams to capture, understand, and act on conversations.
About the document translation tool
JotMe document translation is special because it keeps your file format while translating the content. Upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint, or Excel file and download a translated document ready to share.
About JotMe
JotMe is special because multilingual operations include written files too. Document translation helps teams move contracts, decks, and reports across languages without rebuilding the document from scratch.
Get a usable translation from your PDF
A PDF fixes the page layout. Translated sentences may need more space, so a readable source and a final visual check matter as much as the language choice.
Translate a PDF to English
Choose English (American) or English (British) to read a foreign-language report, manual, or handout. You do not need to copy text page by page. Keep the original alongside the translation when checking technical terms and references.
Translate a PDF to Spanish
Choose a Spanish option in the target-language picker before uploading. The same workflow works for other available languages. Review line wrapping in headings, table cells, and captions because translated text can occupy a different amount of space.
Text PDFs and scanned PDFs
PDFs exported from an editor usually give more predictable results. Scans depend on readable text and scan quality; not every scanned file will translate successfully. If you have the original Word document or PowerPoint deck, translate that source file instead.
Keep the file type, check the layout
The download remains a PDF. That does not guarantee identical typography or page breaks. Check multi-column pages, small labels, tables, and any text embedded inside graphics. This tool does not provide a certified translation.

FAQ
How do I translate a PDF online?
Choose a target language, upload your PDF, confirm the translation, and download the result.
Can I translate a PDF to English or Spanish?
Yes. Select an English or Spanish option from the target-language picker. JotMe detects the source language automatically and returns a translated PDF.
Will my PDF keep exactly the same formatting?
The output keeps the PDF file type, but translated text can change line lengths, spacing, and page layout. Review the downloaded file, especially tables and multi-column pages.
Can I translate a scanned PDF?
Results depend on the scan and whether its text can be read. Use a clear, upright scan. A text-based PDF or the original DOCX or PPTX is preferable when available; successful translation of every scan is not guaranteed.
Can I upload a password-protected PDF?
Use an unlocked copy that you are authorized to translate. Encrypted or damaged PDFs may fail processing.
Does the PDF translator convert files to Word?
No. This workflow returns a PDF. If you need to edit a translated Word document, upload the original DOCX in the Word document translator.
Is the document translator free?
Try document translation for free without signing up. Upload a supported file, choose your target language, and download the translation for review.
