Step 2

Wait for Speak now, then talk

Wait for the green Speak now message or the soft chime before talking. Release V or click Stop to finish and curate your words.

Step 3

Copy your text

Review your curated result, then copy the text you want to keep.

About voice typing and JotMe

JotMe combines purpose-built translation and transcription tools with a broader system for multilingual teams to capture, understand, and act on conversations.

About the voice typing tool

Enable your microphone, then hold V on this page or use the mic button. Wait for Speak now or the chime, then talk and stop for a curated result.

About JotMe

JotMe is special because multilingual work often starts with getting words down quickly. Voice typing helps people capture thoughts, messages, and notes by speaking, then continue in translation or transcription workflows.

Online voice typing for short drafts

Speak a thought, wait for the formatted result, and copy it into your message or document. Try for free. No signup required.

Draft messages and notes by voice

Use a short recording for an email draft, a task description, or a note you want to capture quickly. JotMe formats the spoken text for review. Check names, numbers, and intended meaning before copying it to its destination.

Use the keyboard or microphone button

On Mac or Windows, hold V on the active page after enabling the microphone. On a phone, use the microphone button to start and stop. Wait for Speak now before speaking so your opening words are captured.

Copy into your document

The browser shows the result here. Copy and paste it into Word, Google Docs, email, or another app yourself. This webpage does not insert text into another application or replace your device's built-in dictation shortcut.

Keep the text you need

Copy a result before starting another recording or leaving the page. A new result replaces the previous one, and reloading clears the displayed text. For a continuous transcript of a conversation, use live transcription instead.

Use cases

FAQ

What is voice typing on JotMe?

Hold V or use the mic button to turn speech into curated text. Only the latest recording appears as a selectable curated result with Copy. Each new result replaces the previous one, and it clears when you leave or reload the page.

Can I try voice typing for free?

Yes. Try voice typing in your browser without signing up. Speak, review your formatted text, and copy it into your notes or messages.

Which shortcut works on Windows and Mac?

Hold V without modifiers on the active demo page on Mac or Windows. Wait for Speak now or the chime before speaking. The shortcut is ignored while typing in other fields or using dialogs. You can also use the microphone button.

How is my speech formatted?

The demo uses JotMe Desktop’s Curate formatting rules to improve punctuation and format spoken paragraph or list cues while preserving your meaning and language. Live text appears while recording, followed by Formatting and the curated result.

Can this webpage type into other apps?

The browser demo displays curated results on this page. Use Copy and paste into another app yourself. For automatic dictation into other desktop apps, use JotMe Desktop.

Do I need to allow the microphone?

Yes. Click Enable microphone and approve browser access first. Then hold V or click the microphone to record. If access is blocked, allow it in browser settings and try again.

Is this the same as live transcription?

No. Live transcription is a separate tool for longer real-time transcripts. Voice typing creates a curated result for each short recording.

Can I use voice typing on my phone?

Use the microphone button to start and stop recording in your mobile browser. Allow microphone access first and wait for Speak now before talking. You do not need a keyboard shortcut.

Why is voice typing not recording?

Check microphone permission for this site, select the correct microphone, and keep the page active. After enabling access, start a recording and wait for Speak now. Permission approval alone does not start recording.

Can I use this to dictate into Google Docs or Word?

Dictate on this page, review the formatted result, then copy and paste it into your document. This is not the native Google Docs or Microsoft Word voice-typing feature.
