How image translation works

Translate your PNG image in the browser. No installation or signup is required for the free demo.

Step 1

Choose the language for your PNG

Choose English, Japanese, Spanish, or another supported target language. JotMe detects the source language from readable text in the image.

Step 2

Upload your PNG screenshot or graphic

Select a .png file, or drag it into the uploader. Keep the text sharp and include complete sentences so there is enough context to translate.

Step 3

Review the overlay and download

Choose Translate image, then compare the original and translated image. Open the translation blocks to review or copy the text, and download the translated image.

About image translation and JotMe

JotMe combines purpose-built translation and transcription tools with a broader system for multilingual teams to capture, understand, and act on conversations.

About the image translation tool

JotMe image translation is special because it turns screenshots, signs, menus, and document photos into usable translated overlays. It detects readable text, translates it into your target language, and keeps each block reviewable.

About JotMe

JotMe is special because multilingual operations include visual content too. Image translation helps teams understand photos and screenshots quickly, then continue in meetings, chat, and follow-up workflows in the language they work in.

Translate the text in a PNG screenshot or graphic

A PNG can contain readable text even when you cannot select the words. JotMe detects those words and places a translated overlay on the image.

Understand a software screenshot

Translate interface messages, setup instructions, or a help screen shared by a colleague. Crop to the relevant panel while keeping labels and nearby instructions together. Check product names and short button labels against the source text blocks.

Read labels in a diagram

Upload a PNG diagram, chart, or product graphic to translate readable labels. Small legends and text over a patterned background can be harder to detect. Review the translated text and its placement before sharing the graphic.

Start with the original PNG

Use the original screenshot when available. Repeatedly resizing a picture can make small letters difficult to read. Converting a blurry image to PNG does not restore missing detail; capture a clearer screenshot instead.

Review the image as well as the words

Translations can be longer than the source labels. Check text boxes, arrows, spacing, and the background in the preview. The download is a rendered image; the original layers, fonts, dimensions, and transparency are not guaranteed to remain unchanged.

FAQ

How do I translate a PNG to English?

Select English in the language picker, upload your PNG, and choose Translate image. JotMe detects the source language and displays a translated image. Open the translation blocks to compare the detected text with its English translation.

Can I translate a PNG screenshot on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your mobile browser and select a saved .png screenshot from the upload picker. If your phone saved the image as JPG or JPEG, use the JPG translator instead.

Does PNG translation give me text I can copy?

Yes. Along with the translated image, the result includes detected text blocks and their translations. Open Show translation blocks and use Copy all to copy the translated text.

Will the translated download still be a PNG?

The translated image is downloaded as PNG or WEBP, depending on how the result is rendered. Uploading a PNG does not guarantee a PNG download or identical transparency, fonts, and dimensions. Review the preview before using the result in a design.

Can I translate a scanned page saved as PNG?

You can upload a single PNG image of a page when its text is readable. Dense pages, small print, and blurry scans may lose detail. If you have a multipage PDF or an editable Word document, use the document translator for that file instead.

Do I need to convert my PNG before translating it?

No. This page accepts PNG files directly. Translating changes the language of readable text; converting a PNG to JPG or PDF only changes its file format.

Is image translation free?

Try image translation for free without signing up. Upload a supported image, choose your target language, and review the translated image and text.
