How image translation works
Translate your JPG / JPEG image in the browser. No installation or signup is required for the free demo.
Select the photo's target language
Choose the language you want to read. Select English to translate a foreign-language sign, menu, or product label into English.
Upload a JPG or JPEG photo
Choose a .jpg or .jpeg image. Use a clear photo with the writing in focus, minimal glare, and the full sentence visible.
Check the translation and save it
Choose Translate image to see the translated overlay. Review the detected words and translations in the text blocks, then download the result or copy the translated text.
About image translation and JotMe
JotMe combines purpose-built translation and transcription tools with a broader system for multilingual teams to capture, understand, and act on conversations.
About the image translation tool
JotMe image translation is special because it turns screenshots, signs, menus, and document photos into usable translated overlays. It detects readable text, translates it into your target language, and keeps each block reviewable.
About JotMe
JotMe is special because multilingual operations include visual content too. Image translation helps teams understand photos and screenshots quickly, then continue in meetings, chat, and follow-up workflows in the language they work in.
Read text in a JPEG photo without retyping it
Use a photo of a sign, label, menu, or printed instruction. JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same format, so both work in this uploader.
Translate signs and printed menus
Take the photo straight on and include the full line of text. Keep reflections and shadows off the words. Review item names, prices, and numbers in the source blocks, because an unclear character can change the meaning.
Understand a product label or instruction
Upload a readable picture of packaging or a printed instruction sheet. If the text wraps around a curved surface, photograph the relevant section directly. Keep model names, measurements, and surrounding instructions in view for context.
Avoid extra JPEG compression
Use the original camera photo when possible. Copies downloaded from a messaging app may blur fine lettering. If the writing looks blocky or out of focus, take a closer, sharper photo instead of repeatedly resaving it.
Choose the right source file
This uploader accepts .jpg and .jpeg files. For a PNG screenshot, use the PNG translator. For a multipage PDF or Word document, use document translation. If a phone photo is HEIC, export it as JPEG before uploading; renaming the extension does not convert it.

FAQ
How do I translate a JPG to English?
Choose English as the target language, upload your JPG or JPEG photo, and select Translate image. Review the translated overlay and compare each detected text block with the translation.
Is a JPEG translator different from a JPG translator?
No. JPG and JPEG are filename extensions for the same image format. This page accepts both .jpg and .jpeg files, so you do not need a separate tool or conversion step.
Can I translate a JPEG document into English?
Yes, if the document is a readable photograph or scan saved as JPEG. Choose English and upload that image. The result is a translated image and text blocks, not an editable Word document or a translated PDF. Use document translation when you have the original PDF or Word file.
Can I translate Arabic, Japanese, or Chinese text in a JPG?
Upload a photo with clear text and select your target language. JotMe detects the source language automatically. Inspect the source text blocks carefully, especially small characters, dots, and marks that can be lost in a compressed or blurry photo.
Will I download another JPEG?
The translated result is a PNG or WEBP image, depending on how it is rendered. It is not guaranteed to retain the input JPEG format or original dimensions. You can also copy the translated text from the translation blocks.
Can I upload a photo from my phone?
Yes. Use your browser's file picker to select a saved JPG or JPEG photo. HEIC is not supported by this uploader. Export a HEIC photo as JPEG first; changing only the filename extension will not work.
Is image translation free?
Try image translation for free without signing up. Upload a supported image, choose your target language, and review the translated image and text.
