How image translation works

Translate your static GIF image in the browser. No installation or signup is required for the free demo.

Step 1

Choose the GIF's target language

Select English or another supported language from the picker. JotMe detects the source language from readable text in your image.

Step 2

Upload a static GIF

Choose a single-frame .gif image. Animated GIFs are not supported. To translate a caption from an animation, save the relevant frame as PNG or JPEG and use that format's translator.

Step 3

Review the translated image and text

Select Translate image, compare the original and translated text blocks, and download the rendered PNG or WEBP result. You can also copy the text blocks for use in a message or document.

About image translation and JotMe

JotMe combines purpose-built translation and transcription tools with a broader system for multilingual teams to capture, understand, and act on conversations.

About the image translation tool

JotMe image translation is special because it turns screenshots, signs, menus, and document photos into usable translated overlays. It detects readable text, translates it into your target language, and keeps each block reviewable.

About JotMe

JotMe is special because multilingual operations include visual content too. Image translation helps teams understand photos and screenshots quickly, then continue in meetings, chat, and follow-up workflows in the language they work in.

Translate the words in a GIF image

Use this GIF text translator for a still graphic with readable lettering. It translates the image's text into your chosen language and gives you a still image to review.

Understand a caption or reaction image

Upload a static GIF with a caption to understand the words in another language. Short jokes, slang, and cultural references may need context, so compare the detected text and translation before sharing the result.

Read text in a saved web graphic

A diagram, banner, or instruction graphic may be saved as GIF even when it does not move. Translate its readable labels without manually retyping them. Check names, numbers, and the placement of translated text in the preview.

Translate a frame from an animation

If your GIF moves, save a still frame with the complete caption as PNG or JPEG, then open the matching translator. This gives you the meaning of that frame's text. The tool does not process every frame or rebuild a translated animation.

Use clear lettering

Small GIF graphics can have rough letter edges or text that blends into the background. Use the clearest available source and keep entire sentences visible. Review the detected text blocks for missed or misread characters.

FAQ

How do I translate a GIF to English?

Choose English as the target language, upload a static, single-frame GIF, and select Translate image. Review the translated overlay and compare the source text blocks with their English translations.

Can this GIF translator translate animated GIFs?

No. This tool supports static GIF images only. For an animated GIF, save the frame you want to understand as PNG or JPEG and use the corresponding image translator. It does not translate a moving GIF frame by frame or preserve its animation.

How can I tell whether my GIF is static?

Open the GIF in a browser and watch it. If it moves or its text changes, it is animated and is not supported. A GIF can also contain multiple similar frames that are hard to distinguish; if it is rejected as animated, save a still frame as PNG or JPEG instead.

Will the translated result be a GIF file?

The result is a still PNG or WEBP image, depending on how it is rendered. The download is not a GIF animation. Original dimensions, fonts, transparency, and placement may change, so review the preview before using the image.

Can I copy the translated text from a GIF?

Yes. Open Show translation blocks after the translation finishes. You can compare the detected source text with the translation and use Copy all to copy the source and translated text blocks.

Can I translate a GIF on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your mobile browser and select a saved static GIF. If you have a PNG or JPEG screenshot instead, use the matching translator linked on this page.

Is image translation free?

Try image translation for free without signing up. Upload a supported image, choose your target language, and review the translated image and text.
